Background
MT-1 is a synthetic analog of the 13-residue hormone α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). Two substitutions, norleucine at position 4 and D-phenylalanine at position 7, make it more stable than the natural peptide. It was developed at the University of Arizona in the 1980s.
Storage and handling
Store sealed vials at −20 °C, protected from light and moisture. Let a vial reach room temperature before opening so condensation doesn't form on the powder. Use standard laboratory PPE and dispose of material as chemical waste under local rules.
